About

The University of Sunderland is a truly life-changing university. We've been providing higher education in the city since 1901, and we're proud to be an innovative, accessible and inspirational university. As of year-end 2013-2014 we have 20,887 students, and our strengths range from widening access and student experience to research, international and industry links.

Campus Information

The University has two campuses in Sunderland:

  • Sir Tom Cowie Campus by the sea
  • City Campus in Sunderland's city centre

The University of Sunderland is located by the coast, in the North East of England. The region has a rich heritage and culture, having 65 art galleries and museums, and world-famous heritage sites Hadrian's Wall and many more.

Accomodation

All-male and all-female flats can be made available, dependent on application date and availability.

Most of our accommodation has technology to support students who are deaf or hearing impaired, and we also have rooms, kitchens and bathrooms which are easily accessible for students who use wheelchairs. We can also help if you have any other needs, such as needing a personal fridge for storing medication.

Benefits of halls of residence

All student accommodation centres are self-catered, with fully equipped kitchens and on-site laundry facilities. Personal possessions insurance is included within the rent, as is free 35Mb wifi internet access. A free campus bus service links all centres to both campuses, and there is also free parking for students with cars. Sunderland is one of the best-value places in the UK to be a student.
