The ISC offers preparatory courses that will provide you with all of the academic and English language skills you need to succeed in your studies, giving you greater confidence in your knowledge and abilities when you begin your degree course. We offer 3 types of courses: International Foundation Year, International Year One and Pre-Masters.

Courses are taught by staff working at the cutting-edge of their fields. Located close to Brighton, one of the UK’s most inspiring and creative cities, the Sussex student experience is unique.

Campus Information 

The ISC is located on the campus of the University of Sussex, which has one of the most beautiful campus locations in Britain. Situated in rolling parkland on the edge of Brighton, the campus combines award-winning architecture with green open spaces. Designed by Sir Basil Spence, the buildings that make up the center of the campus were given listed building status in 1993. 

The University includes 12 different schools of studies, which form the heart of the Campus. It also employs a staff of over 2,100 people, including around 1,000 teaching and research staff, of which, over 300 are research-only.

Surrounded by beautiful parklands, close to the South Downs, the University of Sussex is located in Falmer, less than 10 minutes away by train from the lively and creative seaside city of Brighton.  Frequent bus services run between the campus and the city of Brighton and Hove. Close enough to visit for the day; London is a fascinating, cosmopolitan capital city. The University is located only an hour away from London and 30 minutes from London Gatwick Airport. 

Brighton is a city of festivals. Brighton Festival, which brings the city to life in May, is a celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film and literature. Brighton’s famous pebble Beach is a great tourist attraction. The Brighton Pier bears a festive look and has fairground rides, souvenir shops and numerous food outlets. Brighton also offers a thriving cultural scene and with a range of theatres, museums, galleries and leisure facilities.

Accomodation 

Our students can choose to either live in allocated student accommodation or arrange their own private accommodation. The University of Sussex has eight different areas of accommodation on campus, and they will benefit from being within a 10-minute walk of the International Study Centre. The campus is well served by restaurants, banks, shops and bars, plus sports and recreational facilities, and is a lively place during term time.

All residences are heated and rooms are furnished with a bed, desk and chair, bookshelf and wardrobe. There is also a telephone and broadband access. Every residence is self-catering and kitchens are supplied with cookers, fridge/freezers and kettles; most have microwaves. The rent includes - gas, electricity, water, internet access and personal contents insurance. 

Most of the accommodations are mixed sex (there are a few single sex apartments available) and they are all non-smoking.
