About

The University of Arizona (UA) is a place without limits—where teaching, research, service, and innovation merge to improve lives in Arizona and beyond. We aren't afraid to ask bigger questions to get better answers.

Established in 1885, the University of Arizona, the state’s super land-grant university with two medical schools, produces graduates who are real-world ready through its 100% Student Engagement initiative. Recognized as a global leader and ranked 16th for the employability of its graduates, the UA is also a leader in research, bringing more than $580 million in research investment each year, and ranking 19th among all public universities. The UA is advancing the frontiers of interdisciplinary scholarship and entrepreneurial partnerships, and is a member of the Association of American Universities, the 62 leading public and private research universities. It benefits the state with an estimated economic impact of $8.3 billion annually.

Campus Information

The Student Union Memorial Center, located on the north side of the Mall east of Old Main, was completely reconstructed between 2000 and 2003.

The University of Arizona BookStores (UA Bookstore or UA BookStores) is a self-financed auxiliary unit within The University of Arizona Division of Student Affairs.

The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre was opened in 2003 as a 28,600-square-foot (2,660 m2) dedicated performance venue for the UA's dance program.

The University of Arizona Poetry Center is among the nation’s finest and most extensive collections of contemporary poetry.

The Association of Research Libraries ranked the UA libraries as the 33rd overall university library in North America (out of 113) based on various statistical measures of quality

The main campus sits on 380 acres (1.5 km2) in central Tucson, about one mile (1.6 km) northeast of downtown.

Accomodation

Living in the residence halls (dorms) is a once in a lifetime and phenomenal experience. But we know that figuring out what you need to do and when you need to do what can be daunting, especially if you are a student new to the University of Arizona. Therefore, this page gives you an overview of the student housing process.
Since living in the halls is a huge part of the college experience, the number of applications we receive exceeds the number of spaces we have in the halls. For this reason, we can’t provide campus housing to everyone who wants it. Good news for incoming freshmen – if you submit your housing application and pay the $150 non-refundable housing application fee by April 1, you will have a bed on campus! Unfortunately, we can’t promise that you will get one of your top hall choices – you’d be surprised at how many people want to live in the same dorms as you!

If you apply for housing by April 1, you will use our self-assign process to choose your residence hall; the sooner you apply the more choices you will have and the earlier you will be able to choose!

If you apply after April 1, you will provide your residence hall preferences and we will assign you beginning in mid-July. We will consider your preferences, but cannot guarantee assignment to one of them.
