  • Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Foundation in Science: CCCC
  • A-Level: BBB
  • STPM: BBB
  • The subjects studied must include Mathematics and Chemistry
  • Diploma deemed recognised by the Malaysian Government
  • Any other relevant qualification deemed recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English language requirements

  • If English is not your first language, then evidence of proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 is required.

First year

  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Heat Transfer
  • Mass Transfer
  • Thermodynamics
  • Also includes a mini-design project

Second year

  • Provides opportunities to analyse key operations in the industry, particularly the processing and separation of gases and liquids
  • Topics on Safety, Environment and Economics are consolidated in a group-based project

Third year

  • Processing Solids
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Developing Sustainable Processes
  • A group-based design project and individual research project are also undertaken

Fourth year (MEng Chemical Engineering with Oil and Gas Technology only)

  • In this last year, specialist and core process engineering subjects are studied along with an individual research project, offering the chance to look into a particular aspect of chemical and process engineering
  • All students participate in a more intensive group-based design project which focuses on technical operability and commercial viability of a processing facility
